Technical
FLOORING
All floor maintenance, including preparation for various flooring systems, resin coatings, up to 350 microns in thickness, self smoothing resin toppings up to 5mm thickness, heavy duty resin screeds up to 9mm thickness, quick drying cementitious based screeds, allowing finishes to be applied quickly, pumped polymer underlayments and wearing screeds, natural or pigmented, sand/cement polymer modified screed and standard sand/cement screeds.
CONCRETE REPAIRS
Much of the concrete cast in the late fifties, sixties and seventies, will now need repairing whereby we can carry out various tests, hammer tap tests, cover survey, chloride content and carbonation depths. All repair mortars are like for like to the substrate strength in cementitious mortars. Where aesthetics is important, anti carbonations coatings can be applied.
WATERPROOFING
Many existing buildings suffer from damp or water penetration in the basement. Castlework can "tank out" these areas using waterproof screeds and renderings. Where water is actually present in holes and cracks, this can be dealt with by using quick-setting materials or by injecting low viscosity polyurethane groutings.
GRIT BLASTING / CLEANING
Castlework operate three systems. The Open Blast System is normally used to remove corrosion from steel columns, beams etc. The Wet Blast (Rotec) System is also available for cleaning concrete and delicate substrates, while the Captive Vac Blast System is ideal for the preparation of floors.
GROUTING
Castlework offer a wide selection of resinous or cementitious grouts for stanchion fixing, machine bases and other applications. All normal requirements can be met such as varying degrees of load-bearing strength, chemical resistance etc.
RESTORATION OF BRICKWORK
Repairing an old building can sometimes be like restoring an old master - an art in itself. if as sometimes happens a crack repair necessitates replacing some of the brickwork, Castlework make an art of matching new bricks with old - even down to ageing the mortar!
CRACK INJECTION
The Castlework technique is to inject cracks in brickwork, concrete etc. with very low viscosity epoxy resin, polyurethane's or modified cementitious grouts, depending on the width of the crack. Whether high or low pressures are used will depend on the hardness or friability of the surrounding materials.
CHEMICAL RESISTANT TANK LININGS
Castlework's extensive experience of epoxy resin coatings includes the lining of steel or concrete tanks to provide a high degree of chemical resistance. Where potable water is stored Water Research Council approved high build coatings may be used.
DIAMOND CORING AND SAWING
Castlework not only fill holes, they can also make them! Small or large diameter holes may be cut in a variety of building substrates and openings sawed in walls for various purposes. Also floor sawing for joints.
ROTARY PERCUSSIVE DRILLING AND ANCHOR TESTING
Benefit from Castlework's wide experience with resin or cementitious anchors - have those holes expertly drilled by means of Rotary Percussive electric or air flush equipment depending on the substrate and type of fixing. Castlework can test your anchors too - up to 80 tons pull-out or shear test if necessary.
SPECIALIST GROUNDWORKS
General underpinning and specialist underpinning in domestic and commercial premises, including strengthening of stanchion bases where increased loadings on mezzanine floors or the like is required. This work also includes construction of bases for AC, standby generators, including all underground ducting.
Castlework is an approved specialist contractor for major formulating companies, eg: Altro Limited, BASF, Don Construction Products Limited, Exchem Limited, Fosroc Limited, Mapei UK Limited, Remmers (UK) Limited, Sika Limited, Tarmac - CMS, Weber Building Solutions, Uzin Limited.
